Taylor Swift is Taylor Alison Swift. Taylor Swift was born on December 13, 1989 in Pennsylvania's West Reading. Swift is a pop/country songwriter and singer for over 20 years. Swift's stories of romantic love in the midst of heartbreak and young love are gaining her acclaim in the 21st Century. Swift began to develop an interest in musical instruments as a young person and soon progressed from performing in children's shows before making her first appearance public. Swift began writing music in the teen years. She sang The Star-Spangled Banner for a Philadelphia 76ers basketball game. Swift got inspiration from musicians in country music such as Shania Twain, the Dixie Chicks and, more recently, the Chicks to come up with original songs which reflected the alienation she experienced at the age of 13. Swift's family relocated to Tennessee from Pennsylvania at the age of thirteen so she would have longer pursuing the country music label in Nashville.
